STUDENTS from SJK(T) Ladang Tekal in Kuala Krau, Pahang, planted 100 trees in 60 seconds to help address global warming, Malaysia Nanban reported.
School headmaster R. Kumarasamy said the world is being threatened by global warming including the students who will become the generation to face the problem.
He said many countries including Malaysia have started taking the threat seriously and have realised the importance of trees and reforestation.
In Pahang, the state government is planning to plant 10 million trees over the next five years.
The school decided to undertake the Maram Naduvom, Sutrusoozhalai Kappom (Plant Trees, Protect the Environment) programme to raise awareness among the students and allow them to contribute to solving the problem.
The programme was planned and implemented with the close cooperation of the Parent-Teacher Association and the support of school board chairman M. Murugiah, Mentakab Sri Kallukori Kaliamman temple president N. Kesavan, Persatuan Pembangunan Putra Wawasan Tiram Pahang chairman Vasudevan, parents, teachers, school staff and students.
