HULU SELANGOR: Frustrations reached a boiling point at the Batang Kali landslide site as efforts to deliver crucial information to the public were hampered by poor reception.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil acknowledged this and stressed he would bring up the issue with telecommunication companies and SKMM on creating effective standard operating procedures (SOP) for better communication at future disaster sites.
“We will look to ensure that network connectivity issues do not repeat itself again.
“If all goes well, we will be able to table the report to the cabinet meeting by next Wednesday (Dec 21),” he said in an interview at the Batang Kali landslide site on Friday (Dec 16).
Various reception towers and equipment had been set up at the site since 2pm but reception remained spotty at best due to technical issues and geographical challenges, according to Fahmi.
Media personnel at the site expressed equal frustration at being unable to deliver vital information in a timely manner.
