PETALING JAYA: Malaysia detected 164 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (Feb 13), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 5,039,650 since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry’s KKMNow portal reported that 162 of Monday’s new Covid-19 infections were locally transmitted while there were two imported cases.
Recoveries continued to outpace new infections, with 254 recovering from Covid-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of recoveries in Malaysia to 4,993,388 since the pandemic began.
The KKMNow portal also said that as at 11.59pm Monday, there were 9,310 active Covid-19 cases in the country, with 8,978, or 96.4%, observing home quarantine.
It also reported that 321 Covid-19 patients, or 3.4% of active infections, were seeking treatment at hospitals nationwide, with a further 11 individuals, or 0.2%, warded in intensive care units (ICU).
Of those in ICU as at 11.59pm Monday, five were unventilated while 6 required ventilator support.
KKMNow also reported that Malaysia’s current overall hospital utilisation rate stood at 75.1% while the ICU utilisation rate nationwide was 63%, as at 11.59pm Monday.
The Health Ministry’s GitHub data repository reported that one death due to Covid-19 was reported in Johor on Monday, bringing the total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 to 36,952 since the pandemic began.
