PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 513 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday (Dec 31), says the Health Ministry.
Data released on its KKMNow portal early Sunday (Jan 1) showed that this takes the cumulative total to 5,026,677 cases since the pandemic began.
Of the 513 cases, there were four imported cases while the remaining 509 were local transmissions.
The ministry also recorded 833 recoveries on Thursday.
There are currently 12,002 active cases, of which 11,349 individuals (94.6%) are undergoing home quarantine while 620 individuals (5.2%) require hospitalisation.
Of those hospitalised throughout the country, 33 are warded in intensive care units (ICU), with 15 requiring ventilator support and 18 unventilated.
There was one fatality recorded, which takes the Covid-19 death toll to 36,853 since the pandemic started.
