WHILE other food sellers increased prices in tandem with rising costs, Ismail Ibrahim continues to sell RM1 roti canai at his small stall in Bukit Mertajam, Penang.
The 63-year-old said he wanted to share his “rezeki” or blessings with loyal customers who had been supporting his business over the last six years, reported Kosmo!.
“Wheat flour used to cost RM50 for 25kg, now it’s RM70. Meanwhile, dhal flour has reached RM32 per 10kg, it used to be RM23.
“The rising cost of living is affecting people, especially those from the lower and middle income groups,” he said.
“I don’t make much profit but it’s more important that I can share my rezeki.”
Ismail said he was concerned his customers may not be able to afford a price increase.
> Belgian actor Geoff Andre Feyaerts, who starred as the antagonist Captain Syers in the box-office film Mat Kilau, said he originally came to Malaysia 15 years ago to find a wife, according to Harian Metro.
“I was participating in an intercultural host family programme with a family from Pedas, Negri Sembilan,” said Feyaerts, who is fondly known as Fuad.“It was then that I met my wife and married her.”
Acting came next.
The father of four, whose family now resides in Kuala Lumpur, got his start in the industry doing theatre productions at the Malaysian Tourism Information Centre (Matic) in early 2007.
Feyaerts hopes his latest film would uplift the fighting spirit of Malays along with their culture.
“I hope the film will also be enjoyed in European countries,” he added.
